Dear Parents and Players,
We would first like to begin by saying thank you and your sons for choosing to be part of the Harrison High School Boy’s Tennis Team. Tennis is an outstanding sport that can be played for life. It is an individual sport but is also a team sport at the high school level. One of the biggest goals as a tennis coaches is to incorporate and preach the idea of team to all the players. Valuable life skills such as developing work ethic, being able to work with others, and setting/achieving goals are great attributes that players will carry with them as they get older. Our other goal is to develop the skills of every player and have them grow to love the game of tennis.

Practice
1st official practice date per GHSA: 1/8
Hit arounds – beginning tomorrow and going through next Friday. No coaching. It is just open court time for you to go out and hit around and let us get a look at you. Talk with other players.
Practices are mandatory as a member of the team
We have 4 tennis courts at Harrison that we share with the girls team. We will not practice every day. Please refer to the calendar for practice days. There may be days we will split into 2 groups and have split practice times (4pm -5pm and 5pm-6pm). This will allow us to get more done in practice with smaller groups. I will communicate this via remind.
If your son has a private tennis coach, we encourage that he continues to take lessons. It will allow them to get a little more one on one instruction. Please try to schedule those on days we do not practice or have your son talk with Coach Meese to work something out if there are days with conflicts.
Uniforms
Included as part of the dues, each player will receive 2 pairs of shorts, 2 shirts and a pullover hoody. Players must wear the uniforms they are given for matches. These will be theirs to keep! It allows them to represent the school, the tennis team, and look sharp.
Transportation
Transportation is NOT provided by the county unfortunately. We will have to carpool to away matches. Most of the away matches are local and not too far away. We will be asking for volunteers to sign up to help drive to away matches.
Food/water/drinks
We will be asking each family to supply water, Gatorade, and snack foods that will be provided for the players for every match. List will be supplied to you.
Matches
Match format according to Georgia High School Association:
3 singles matches
2 doubles matches
Top 7 players earn their spots to play in the lineup. Often, teams will have extra players and we will play extra matches.
Playing time is earned! I will make every effort to get players in as many matches as possible. However, playing time in every match is not a guarantee for every player.
Physicals
In order to tryout you must have a physical and it must be uploaded in through Parentview.
